With its series of events "steps to success," Siemens EDM informed its customers about the impending "lead-free conversion."

The topic was presented by Hubertus Andreae, DREI PLUS, (certified expert in the field of materials management and process optimization in manufacturing businesses) by way of practical examples, which pointed out possible solutions to the participants.

With effect from July 1, 2006, all electrical or electronic products sold in the EU must no longer contain

• lead
• cadmium
• mercury
• chromium VI
• flame retardant (PBB, PBDE)

The entire electronics industry and all Siemens Groups must comply with this guideline in the future.
